OVERVIEW

Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (YMD) is a member of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) located in the Xiling Gorges of the Yangtze River. It was established in 1970 and is the first specialized marine diesel engine manufacturer in inland China. It is the only engine maker in the world who has licenses for three different brands of low speed marine engines (MAN B&W, WARTSILA and MITSUBISHI), the largest and strongest manufacturing base for small & medium bore low-speed marine diesel engines.

 

FACILITIES

The general assembly factory consists of the assembly & testing area, the pre-assembly center and the complete engine delivery section. The total working area is 30,000 squared meters. It is an integrated manufacturing facility including engine installation, commissioning, packaging, delivery and service aftersales. With the availability of 350T travelling crane, 11 test-beds, 6 sets of auxiliary systems and an engine-testing facility combining of 8 units of hydro dynamometers with maximum output power of 40,000KW. The facilities can be used for assembly and testing engines with the cylinder bore up 700mm. Three engines can be tested at the same time. The facilities also include a Steel Casting Factory, an Iron Casting Factory and three Machining Work Stations.

MAN B&W is one of the most popular makers in the international main engine market. It holds the biggest market share globally and plays a leading role in the development of the technology for low-speed marine diesel engines. YMD is one of the most important partners for the two-stroke engine manufacturing in China and follows the progressive steps of MAN B&W.

YMD – WARTSILA Series Low Speed Engines

YMD is one of the most important partners of WARTSILA in China, as they have been cooperating for over three decades.  It has always been at the leading edge of manufacturing low-speed marine diesel engines by working closely with WARTSILA engineers (former SULZER) since 1979.

Mitsubishi

YMD – MITSUBISHI Series Low Speed Engines

The MITSUBISHI UE Series of two-stroke engines has stepped from Japan to the international shipbuilding market. It is preferred by owners worldwide for its reliability and economic performance. YMD was authorized with a License Agreement in early 2007 and has since been successfully manufacturing MITSUBISHI low-speed marine diesel engines.

MAINTENANCE & SERVICE

YMD offers four stations for Maintenance & Service to its engines covering the whole of China from the North to the South.

LOGISTICS

YMD can provide a comprehensive logistics service to its customers. Its facilities include a special railway, a riverbank pier and the national network of express-way.

The special network of railway extends from the workshops to the main network of railway and enables YMD to deliver huge parts (up to 60 tons) from its facilities directly to the client’s site.

The pier beside the Yangtze River has a 275-ton capacity crane and is accessible for the calling of barges up to 2,000 ton. It can be used for the shipment of complete diesel engines as well as huge parts of assemblies for different applications.

Finally, the express-way can cover different demands for road transportation via trucks.
