N. Bogdanos Marine Bureau S.A.
(surveys and consultancy)
Established in Piraeus in 1956, is the oldest firm of marine consultants, surveyors, valuers, appraisers and arbitrators in Greece. As the firm’s reputation grew, it became known as a “school” for marine surveyors and indeed many were snatched by Classification Societies after a few years of field training with Bogdanos.
Our surveyors are qualified Naval Architects, Marine Engineers, ex-Chief Engineers, Master Mariners etc., providing the optimum blend of academic qualifications with practical experience and capable of effecting all types of surveys.
Our in-depth understanding of ships and ship repair, handling of claims, familiarity with repair costs etc., spans more than 5 decades of dedicated service to many prestigious Principals, past and present. These include: The Salvage Association (before it was sold to BMT), the American Hull Insurance Syndicate - AHIS (Representatives and Exclusive Surveyors to the US Salvage Association), AXA Corporate Solutions, The St. Paul Syndicate at Lloyd’s, German and other Underwriters, International Insurance Services Ltd. (Piraeus Lloyd's Agents), Thomas Miller (UK P&I Club), A. Bilbrough & Co. Ltd. (London Steamship Owners' Club), etc.
In addition, we act as Technical Consultants to major Banks (condition assessment and valuation of vessels, repair costs validation etc., for the National Bank of Greece, the former Greek Bank of Industrial Development – ETBA, the Bank of Central Greece, the Royal Bank of Scotland and other banks.), to Classification Societies (including expert court witness services in major casualties in defence of an IACS member), to prospective Buyers or Owners/Operators of Shipyards (asset and work in progress valuations, e.g. Elefsis, Mangalia, Tulcea and Hellenic Shipyards), as well as to Shipowners/Managers (including claims handling and expert witness services in major casualties, as well as undertaking the supervision of special projects, such as conversions, newbuildings etc.).
